Welcome to Barnes! As a new hire eligible for benefits, you should take some time to learn about our comprehensive and competitive benefits package, which covers your health, your wealth and total wellbeing.
This website is your one-stop-shop for Barnes benefits information and news. Find out what’s new, get answers to your questions and use the tools and resources provided on this website to maximize your benefits and coverage.
Salaried and Non-Union Hourly Employees: Benefits* are effective the first of the month after, or on the same day as your hire date, provided you enroll within 30 days of your hire date. Example: If you are hired April 10, your benefits are effective May 1 provided you enroll by May 10.
* Certain waiting periods may apply for short-and long-term disability and voluntary benefits.
Be sure to make your benefit elections within 30 days of your hire date; otherwise, your next opportunity to enroll will be during the annual enrollment period.

- For additional information about dependent eligibility, visit the Eligibility page.
If you miss your enrollment deadline or do not actively enroll within the required 30 days (after date of hire), you will receive only the Company-sponsored benefits* (Basic Life, AD&D insurance, Short-Term Disability, Basic Long-Term Disability, Work/Life Convenience Services and Employee Assistance Program [EAP]) until the next annual Open Enrollment, unless you have a Qualified Event/Family Status Change during the year.
*Subject to eligibility
The benefits you choose will remain in effect from the date of your eligibility through December 31 of the calendar year. After you enroll, you will be able to make changes to your benefit selections ONLY if you have a qualified life event during the year. Your next opportunity to make changes will be during Open Enrollment for the next plan year.
Within 7-10 business days of the end of your New Hire Enrollment period, you will receive a written confirmation statement of your benefit elections in the mail. We strongly encourage you to review your confirmation. If any of the information or benefits are not accurate, please contact your HR Representative to arrange for changes as soon as possible.
If you enroll in medical coverage under the Barnes plans, you should expect to receive your medical and prescription ID card within two weeks. Your medical and Rx benefit will be on one combined ID card. Please show this card to your health care providers and pharmacy on your next visit.
